Murree Tours

To the northeast of Islamabad, on a series of outlying Himalayan spurs, lay a series of settlements that were developed by the British as hill resorts. Known as ‘hill stations’, they were used by the British administration and their families to escape the summer heat of the Punjab plains. With their cool summers and brisk winters, they remain popular today with Pakistani tourists and expatriate staff in Islamabad.

The most developed of the hill stations, Murree, is 64 Kilometers from Islamabad and can be reached by car in less than two hours along a good quality, winding alpine road. However, on weekends and holidays the road can be packed with traffic, and drivers should be prepared to encounter wrong overtaking maneuvers on the bends. Thus Murree is the most popular summer resort for Pakistanis.

Hiking is the best sport to do while touring Murree; following are some of the hiking trails:

  • Ayubia - Changla Gali
  • Ayubia - Khanaspur
  • Ayubia - Dungagali, 4km, a must to do
  • Dungagali - Mushkpuri Top
  • Mushkpuri Top - Nathiagali
  • Nathiagal - Miranjani Top
